Snow showers.

25th March 2024

A light covering of snow today and more tomorrow, a reminder it’s still Winter in the hills.

A very light covering of snow today, it was only about a centimetre on top of Lochnagar.

Weather watchers will have noticed there was a possibility of significant snowfall for us on Tuesday, however it’s likely we won’t get that much now. Worth checking latest forecasts if venturing out to the hills.

Currently there is less snow cover on the Glenshee-Lochnagar hills than in the main Cairngorms, not an unusual situation at this time of year.

There was a dusting of new snow on most aspects above 700 metres.

Crossing the Lochnagar col. Snow showers started mid morning, easing in the afternoon.

Very light winds on the Lochnagar plateau. New snow was not drifting, old snow was very firm.

Iain checking out West aspects.
