Windy!

11th April 2024

It looked like a classic Spring day, mild temperatures and blue sky. However, as forecast, the winds were very strong giving challenging conditions on the hills. By afternoon the winds eased slightly, probably to the relief to walkers on the Lochnagar plateau.  Tomorrow’s winds will be strong again but not as bad as this morning.  There has been quite a bit of snow loss, Corries and the higher hills of the main Cairngorms are now holding greatest amounts of snow.

Challenging to get a steady shot!

Relatively sheltered on the walk up from the track, it changed at the top of these steps!  There was quite a bit of snow loss last night, today certainly quite a contrast to yesterdays conditions.

A walker battling up to the Lochnagar plateau. The winds started to ease in the afternoon.

The main Corrie. Classic Spring conditions.

The South Sector. Another mild day tomorrow with rain due in the afternoon.
