Lochnagar

19th March 2024

Rain last night with the freezing level above the summits has visibly reduced the snow cover. The remaining snow was soft and wet today and looking very patchy. Best cover is still in the North and East facing corries above 900 metres. A brief respite tomorrow with the freezing level lowering to around 850 metres for a short while, then climbing up to 1050 metres during the afternoon. A small amount of snow has been forecast but it will only have a cosmetic effect.

The freezing level will continue to fluctuate for the rest of the week but it looks like it will become colder on Friday. Unsettled weather for the next 48 hours though.
