The Storm Gerrit experience.

27th December 2023

A rather wild day with heavy snow showers and drifting in very strong winds. Realistically we were never safely going to get up any hills today, our plan was to drive out towards Glenshee Ski Centre and see what we can do from there. Surprisingly, there were a few cars still attempting to cross over, however there was little chance of them making it. Most had headed back before we came down.

It’s certainly a lot whiter on the hill but deeper drifts were limited to any sheltered locations. Hopefully we’ll see a bit more tomorrow.

Travel is likely to be tricky tomorrow (Thursday) with further snow showers expected. Currently most of the snow gates in the area are shut.

Sorry, not any decent shots taken today. For those with Instagram, Glenshee posted this  – https://www.instagram.com/stories/glenshee_ski_centre/3267048992338456290/

The Braemar to Glenshee road this morning. Snow was turning wetter at lower levels but it has remained cold at higher altitudes.
