Lochnagar.

2nd February 2023

With a temperature of +4 degrees at 930 metres today it wasn’t a surprise that we’ve lost a lot of snow cover sub 900 metres.

A wander up to the Lochnagar plateau today although there wasn’t much visibility above 900 metres.

As it wasn’t raining I thought I’d got away with getting wet but unfortunately I had to wade the burn, more wet boots!

Out the cloud with a view across Glen Muick to Mt Keen, the most Easterly of the Munro’s. Only patches of snow survive at lower levels.

Lochnagar itself is starting to break up.

Looking across the crag apron of Lochnagar, nothing to see above this level. Corries and high plateau’s are still holding most snow but it is still thawing. The easier gullies are still complete for the moment.
