Cold winds.

24th February 2023

The freezing level was around 800 metres with snow showers throughout the morning. Nothing significant has changed, very hard and icy on North and East aspects, isolated soft patches elsewhere.

Expected to remain dry, windy and cold over the weekend.

Quite a bit of snow has gone over the last week. Corrie Fionn looking very lean now. Lochnagar still hanging on as is the higher corries of the Cairngorms.

Wind exposed old snow is rock hard. Slips and trips on steep ground may have serious consequences.

Meanwhile, pockets of soft snow will be found on Southerly aspects. Generally there’s not much of it.
