Another cold day.

17th January 2023

Strong winds led to persistent drifting of the cold dry snow throughout the day.  There is decent cover from 600 metres but mostly it’s baseless until higher up the hill. Cover improves with altitude with any older snow firm and icy.

Wednesday will see stronger winds and some new snow, the main Cairngorms are likely to see the heaviest showers.

Calardoch looking very white. Snow was drifting throughout the day. Deep drifts were developing in wind sheltered locations.

There was only occasional breaks in the cloud above 900 metres. A walker crossing the t-Saigairt Col.

The view over to Beinn a Bhuird.
