The return of Winter.

4th March 2019

This mornings weather was definitely a reminder that Winter has not finished with us yet. Although there is only a thin cover of snow in most places deeper accumulations are building  up in lee locations.

Gelder Shiel and the crags of Lochnagar. Looking a lot whiter now.

Not any depth to the snow around 800 metres but drifts were forming above this height in some sheltered areas.

There is a covering of new snow on the crags. Hopefully climbing conditions will improve over the next few days.

Occasionally clearing to the West. Beinn a Bhuird in the distance showing a distinct snowline.

Lochnagar Plateau. Very Wintry this morning, poor visibility and a general covering of snow and ice in places but it did start to clear late morning (and gave me the opportunity to get the camera out!).

The top of Black Spout right hand. Filling in nicely.

The summit, cloud starting to break around lunchtime.

As we come of the hill……it clears! Another view to the corries of Beinn a Bhuird.
