A wet Lochnagar

22nd March 2019

Not a particularly nice morning, strong winds and rain, challenging to get any useful pictures. It did clear a little later on, giving a better view from a distance.

Not really a surprise that Lochnagar is looking pretty black. There are no mixed routes left but easier gullies such as Central, Raeburns and Black Spout(s) look complete.

Most of the big cornices have collapsed, there was a fair amount of debris from the Raeburns/Black Spout area. Some stubborn cornices remain in place.

The view back down towards Gelder Shiel. Definitely not as nice looking up the hill!

There is quite a lot of debris in the corrie. The crags are very black.

A lot of this was probably triggered by collapsing cornices. Particularly the avalanches from Raeburns/Black Spout.

It was very wet this morning, some new waterfalls in places!
