Best day of the season so far………

24th December 2018

A stunning day out today. Decided to go ‘light and fast’ (aka jogging for me), a great way to see and visit many different locations.

Coverage is good although often quite thin on plateau areas. Despite the sun, it was cold! Interesting things happening within the snow today but with the freezing levels due to rise way above the summits tonight/tomorrow it will likely become soft and moist again.

Light and fast today, well for these two! Glas Maol in the background.

Looking from Cairn o Claise towards Glas Maol. It’s often rocky around here, the snow behind the wall is often useful for ski tourers.

From Cairn o Claise towards Lochnagar.

Distant views to Ben More.

Good coverage on Glas Maol, Glas Tulaichean with obvious corrie in the background.

Great running (and walking) conditions on the summits. Plenty ski options for the keen as well.

Good snow cover above 800 metres. Two walkers making their way down the ridge with Beinn a Bhuird in the background.
