Snowing and blowing.

8th February 2017

It felt fairly wild on the hill today. We had decided on an exposed ridge up a hill in the hope the snow had been blown clear of it. Most of it was okay but there were a few deep drifts to contend with. Fortunately we brought some extra legs to trail break for us. Thanks Shaun!

Snow was being eroded from ridges, these made the walk in fairly easy. However at times there were deep drifts in sheltered locations. Visibility wasn’t great.

There was steady snowfall throughout the morning.

Route choice in conditions like today is important.

It started to clear early afternoon but the strong drifting continued.
