Lochnagar 27/02/17

27th February 2017

A stunning if somewhat cold day with a significant wind chill effect. Variable conditions underfoot – a whole mixture of water ice, snow ice and an awful lot of incredibly tiring breakable crust over deep snow… It’s forecast to stay cold for the next few days.

Early morning view towards Lochnagar

Looking towards the crags from the West ridge

Very distant views to Beinn a’Bhuird

Small cornices by Lochnagar’s usual standard – but will still provide ‘entertainment’ for anyone trying to top out.

The crags from the summit plateau – full winter conditions
