Blue Sky Day

21st January 2017

It was a beautiful day today and it was great to see the local car parks getting used, with lots of walkers enjoying the blue skies and sunshine. The snow is very patchy but what is there is very firm and icy in places. There is also quite a bit of water ice underfoot. Crossing the burns can be fun at the moment as the boulders that are just out of the water have a very slippy glaze of ice over them: Do you accept a slightly wet foot or do you risk a full body immersion at speed….. It looks like we have had the best of the weather with more cloud and maybe even a trace of snow forecast for tomorrow.

Clear skies led to a hard frost

Looking South from Carn a Gheoidh

Looking West from Carn a Gheoidh. Very thin conditions.
