Blizzards forecast…

7th March 2013

It was drier and not quite as windy as expected today, but there has been some limited wet snowfall down as low as 600m with a little more at the highest elevations. I went into Lochnagar today but the cloud was very thick and gave no visibility above 800m – so sorry no photos.

I was lucky enough to be able to observe a herd of over 60 stags at close quarters right down in Glen Muick.

Maybe these guys have some kind of inner weather warning system and already know what is on the way tomorrow – so they’ve come down into the shelter of the glen before the storm force winds and blizzards arrive…

Yep – we’ve been forecast heavy snow on 70 mph, gusting 100 mph winds tomorrow. It’s coming in from the SE which usually means that we will get the full amount… Might not be the nicest day to be out in the hills!
