Lochnagar

5th March 2012

Winter was back on the top of Lochnagar today. Aspects sheltered from the sun looking the best, Black Spout Pinnacle below. Last week it was often no gloves and warm rock, not today!
Looking over into Crumbling Cranny, right of photo. Steps visible near the top from an ascent at the weekend. There were also relatively fresh steps at the top of Raeburn’s.

Left Branch Black Spout below.

The recent snow though limited in quantity has certainly brought back the feeling of it still being winter at higher elevations.

Lower down it is pretty warm in the sun. Lovely for walking or cycling at Loch Muick today.
