Avalanche safety starts at home. This book describes the avalanche phenomena in Scotland. Considering the nature of the winter so far, it is interesting to note that Appendix 3 describes numerous avalanche incidents in March and April. Deep foot penetrations in moist soft snow are more widespread. We need to be wary of how this unusual snowpack winter evolves-wider distribution of deep snowpack zones, still lingering weak characteristics and transition to late winter snowpack…
