Lochnagar 27th March

27th March 2009

Please excuse the quality of the photos – it really wasn’t the kind of day to be getting your camera out – snow showers and a lot of spindrift blowing around. The cloud refused to lift out of the corrie as well. Any exposed areas have been stripped of snow but that does mean that there is windslab in very sheltered locations – especially around the top of the crag and in the gullies. A large spindrift avalanche came down Parallel A this morning and some snow was observed coming out of Raeburn’s as well. The forecast is for snow overnight so careful route choice required tomorrow.
