Colder with snow showers today

7th March 2008

Well it turned colder as promised and yesterday’s wet snow has refrozen. Occasionally you will come across some snow that is a little crusty but generally everything is pretty solid. Light snow showers this morning eventually turned heavier and became more frequent this afternoon. Deposits are drifting and areas of slightly deeper snow are starting to form on N to E aspects above 800 metres.
Patchy light snow overnight will turn more persistent on Saturday morning. Heaviest showers are expected around late morning before it turns drier and brighter in the afternoon. Winds are forecast to be around 60 mph from the SW so drifting will be a strong feature of the day. Fresh unstable accumulations will form with that forecast so select your route with care.
Have a good weekend!
Sam
