Ski Sunday…

18th March 2018

Everybody seemed to have their skis on today, with Carn an Tuirc enjoying popularity despite the poor visibility. There is some excellent snow around but there is also some seriously firm ice present. Even the vegetation is coated in it! More fresh snow arrived than expected and due to the cold conditions and strong winds constant heavy drifting was taking place. Deep unstable drifts in places to steer clear of.

Weather forecast seems to suggest that we might have a better day tomorrow: It would be great to get some visibility so that we can enjoy the amazing snow that is out there. Flat light is making it very difficult to spot all the wind features that are present at the moment.

Getting snowed in…. cold, dry, light deposits drifting constantly today.

Icy conditions are definitely a hazard at present!

Showers easing and cloud breaking in the early afternoon.
