That windy col

12th January 2007

The Cairngorm Weather Station showed a gust today at 138mph with the Cairnwell Station at 933 metres showed gusts of up to 134mph. Crossing the Col at Lochnagar was fun! It has rained but as you can see there is some snow left.
We are due to see snow tomorrow unless the Low is a bit closer than expected, then it’s rain again.
There was quite a lot of wet snow debris in the corrie and there has been some cornice collapse.
It was about +5.2 but the freezing level should be around 500 metres tomorrow.
