Turning Cooler

24th December 2023

Another wet and windy day that followed a mild night – Plus 7 degrees Centigrade last night at 930 metres – this stripped away both the new and old snow. Cover is now very patchy with largest areas restricted to wind sheltered locations on North to East aspects above 900 metres – Corrie rims, gully lines etc.

The forecast is slightly better news with a lowering freezing level and some light snow arriving above around 700 metres. The old patches are going to become firm and icy as they refreeze. It’s looking like it is going to stay colder for most of the week.

The South Cairngorm Team hope that you have a wonderful festive break.

Plus 7 degrees Centigrade @ 930m last night stripped a lot of snow off the hills

Glenshee Ski Centre up and skiing on the artificial snow. Sorry for the rain on the lens – it was pretty wet today.

Happy Christmas everyone. Fingers crossed for a snowy New Year
