More of the same

11th March 2025

Another windy day today, but slightly better views than yesterday. Light snow showers overnight and through the day have given a dusting of snow to the landscape. Older snow patches are currently very firm and icy due to the current northerly airflow. Tomorrow is forecast to bring 3-6 cm of snow which means winter is still in charge. (see report for more details.)

(Above) An example of typical cover on the plateau areas just now. If you look closely you may see the only example of drifting snow that I seen on today’s journey.

(Above) Rime ice was very evident today, shown here on the lower half of this rock. Rounded snow grains in the form of Graupel were also evident.
