A Spring day.

8th April 2018

Mild and sunny today with some great views. Overnight rain triggered an avalanche last night but otherwise there was just some surface instabilities around. Definitely feels like a spring snowpack.

Overnight rain triggered an avalanche in Corrie Fionn.

A walker above the Corrie Fionn cornice. The crown walls, just under the cornice, were across most of the central corrie, they had also gone up a short way onto the plateau. Like yesterdays avalanches, quite shallow failing on previously noted weak layer.

Instabilities and thaw lines on the West wall within the ski area.

Skiers passing the Garbh Corrie.

Great visibility today, looking towards Cairn Toul, Braeriach and the Corrie Bhrochain.
