Lochnagar.

19th March 2019

The snowpack is currently slowly thawing although cold dry snow still persists within deeper accumulations.

Cornices around The Black Spout(s) are big and potentially will collapse in these temperatures. I recorded +2.2℃ on the summit today.

Lochnagar this morning. There was light cloud around the summits off and on all day.

The False corrie. Like many areas, deep accumulations around the rim.

The crags still looking white but thawing at all levels.

Central Buttress.

Raeburns Gully.

The summit from the West Ridge.

A steep finish on The Black Spout Right-Hand.

Large cornices above the Left hand finish provide a significant hazard in the current mild temperatures.

Stuic Buttress.

Plodding back out. Had thought about ski’s today but the cover was too broken to be useful.
