Lochnagar.

12th February 2019

It was a mild day with the cloud base around 900 metres.

There is still a lot of ice around on the crags but with a temperature of +4 degrees celsius in the corrie it didn’t take too long before ice started falling from the crags.

Staying mild for at least a couple more days yet.

Through the rain, Gelder and the crags. Snow is thawing at all levels, significant snow loss at lower elevations.

False Corrie icefall. There has been some decent ice build up on the crags but not sure how much will survive this mild spell.

Mountain Hare (centre) blending in with the rocks.

Lochnagar starting to thaw.

Central Buttress.

Crags holding onto some snow.

Ice dripping at 900 metres. By lunchtime ice was observed falling from the crags.
