Broken cloud.

9th January 2018

It was a very windy day but very little snow blowing around. A strong surface crust has been developing over the last 3 days and its now becoming quite firm in places. There are still layers within the snowpack but the surface is very well bonded in most places. The last 24 hours in particular has seen a build up in hoar in exposed locations. Although there was no new precipitation it was very damp when in the clouds.

Hoared up snow fence. Wind direction from camera angle.

Glenshee staff clearing cables of ice. Equipment can get damaged in these kind of conditions if left unattended. A pretty thankless task today!

Fast moving cloud led to occasional views below 900 metres. Looking over to the ski area.
