Snow then Rain!

That’s over 60cm of fresh snow there at 880 metres. There was no snow in that particular location yesterday. Some trail breaking was required in more sheltered locations today but generally new cover isn’t excessive.
Heavy rain has been forecast for tomorrow with a 2500 metre freezing level so we are expecting recent deposits to be destabilised with avalanche activity likely in steeper sheltered locations. Winds are fairly strong tomorrow – 50 to 60 mph – oh joy! So it’s not going to be particularly pleasant out there…
