Milder conditions overnight produced a number of small cornice collapses in Lochnagar, with debris below most of the main routes. The forecast for the next 24 hours is pretty grim – rain, gale force winds and the freezing level soaring way over the summits. Luckily the heaviest of the rain is due overnight with much lighter or no rain during the day. Any remaining cornices or cornice remnants will be prone to collapse as will any surviving snow bridges. The burns will be in spate so care required when crossing.
