All Change!

20th February 2008

As the visibility was so poor on the hill, I thought I’d give you a photo from the glen today. The estates have all been taking advantage of the dry conditions recently by getting on with the heather burning. Good job too as it has just started raining here in Braemar and the forecast tomorrow is for moderate rain and 55mph winds.

So the high pressure system has finally slipped away and tomorrow there will be a mild and windy airflow coming in from the SW. The freezing level will rise to 2100 metres with a maximum temperature of plus 7 forecast at 1000 metres. At present the snow is very firm and friends have been romping up the easier gullies in Lochnagar. Tomorrow the surface layers will start to soften in the milder conditions and rockfall could be a issue. Hopefully the rain won’t be too heavy and we won’t lose too much.
