Drifting Day

6th February 2017

Low cloud and very poor visibility today, with deposits starting to drift at 700 metres and persistent drifting at 900 metres. The wind chill effect was pretty significant as well, with full face and eye protection required to operate effectively from 900 metres upwards.

We have been forecast overnight snowfall on severe gale force winds so we are expecting the drifted deposits to be significant: Have a quick look at the area report if you are planning to head out tomorrow…

Very poor visibility and trail breaking required on the Lochnagar path

A break in the clouds let the sun through for a time

Cloud cleared in the East later in the afternoon

Conditions in the mountains at 900 metres today
