Cold in the wind.

2nd March 2026

The thaw continues with the burns and rivers still full as we slowly lose the snow cover. It was very windy today and didn’t take long to become cold if exposed to the worst of it.

Snow cover is very broken on NE to S aspects and at lower levels, particularly where exposed to the sun.  Overall cover is still good above 850 metres.

Tuesday is expected to be a nice day, hopefully not as windy as today. The freezing level is expected to drop again with the old snow becoming firm and icy, particularly where shaded.

Looking towards Creag Leacach. Ground starting to break through in many locations.

Across to The Cairnwell. These aspects never had much depth to them. The did have as much as 3 metres in places at best.

The sun on Corrie Bhrochain, Braeriach.

Beinn A Bhuird.

Ben Avon. The Ariel of Morronne down right.
