Snow cover.

23rd February 2026

It felt quite spring like in the sun down in the glens this morning. Not quite the same on the hills with regular gusts of 50 mph+ recorded. There was isolated pockets of snow that fell last night but otherwise there was just occasional rain.

Snow cover is doing okay,  SW through NW to NE are holding most, while snow loss is evident on S,SE, exposed ridges and sub 600 metres.

It’ll be tough on the snow this week.

Looking towards Carn Nan Sac (920 metres). The North-East face holding snow well. Note- the skiers down right are on ‘The Bunny Run’, a piste at Glenshee Ski Centre.

Carn an Tuirc, 1019m on left, Sron na Gaoithe on right. Still great cover on these West aspects and above 600 metres.
