Changes afoot!

19th February 2026

A cloudy dry day with a strong breeze. Not a lot of visibility but I skied up to Foxes (or Hidden/False) Corrie with good snow all the way in. There wasn’t much to see but the cloud lifted enough to snap a couple pics of Lochnagar’s crags. Big changes tomorrow, thaw conditions arriving in the afternoon with the weekends weather looking mild and a bit wild.

Gelder area with Lochnagar in the cloud. There was noticeable snow loss sub 600 metres later in the day.

Minor instability’s noted in some locations.

Older ski tracks overlie hard ice. Softer snow had been stripped in yesterdays strong winds.

Mixed snow cover, this evening into Friday will see an improvement on East aspects however it won’t last long with mild temps and rain arriving on Friday afternoon.

South Sector and Central areas.

Central and part of the main Corrie.
