Fresh snowfall

15th February 2026

Fresh overnight snowfall to glen level meant that trail breaking was required again with some deep, soft snow at relatively low levels in places. At higher altitudes, the severe gale force winds stripped most slopes, leaving unstable windslab only in the most sheltered locations. Wind exposed slopes are scoured and very icy with crampons required to make safe and efficient progress on some slopes. The visibility was very poor with no views of the Lochnagar cliffs available. Late snowfall has also created problems on the A93, as the Slide has become blocked with vehicles struggling in the wet snow.

No blue skies today – but that didn’t stop these keen mountaineers heading up into the clag

Deep soft drifts in places

Brew in a Bothy Bag! Very sensible – very cold wind chill today…

A change from yesterday. Navigation skills were required today.

Some very icy underfoot conditions: Crampons required to make progress on some slopes.
