Another day in Paradise…
31st January 2026
This weather system just keeps giving ! More snow overnight, easing later during the day. With the freezing level lifting slightly and blipping up to 900m at 4am for a short while it didn’t take too long for the A93 to be opened – although they kept working with a blower, cutting some width back into the road as there is a fair bit of snow up there. There is even a JCB up at the ski area which they’ve been using to move snow around.
The snow at 600m was wet and heavy but above 700m it was starting to drift on the strong to gale force winds – Very chilly on exposed skin. The visibility was again very poor during the morning, making travel through the drifting snow quite difficult. It’s very easy to fall over wind features at the moment – and there are some large ones around.
The forecast is for more precipitation , slightly heavier overnight, much lighter during the day. Only falling as snow above 1000m overnight and 900m during the day. Conditions remain serious and careful route choice is required. Further snowfall expected on Monday.
