A cloudy Lochnagar.

20th January 2026

Not much to say about today. Around +2 at 900 metres, some light rain in the morning and windy.

Snow was reasonably firm on the way up but had softened massively or gone in many places from footpath sub 500 metres on way down.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) looks more interesting! Freezing level dropping to 800 metres with potentially heavy snowfall with storm force winds in the morning.

Lots of ice appearing from under the snow on the footpath. Micro spikes most useful.

Surprising just how much ice had melted when coming down. It might all get replaced tomorrow with potentially heavy snowfall tomorrow afternoon.
