Warm glens, chilly tops…

1st April 2025

Another beautiful spring day in the Southern Cairngorms, with plenty of sunshine and fresh Southerly winds.

A day of contrasting temperatures with the glens being warm and the higher mountains feeling quite chilly. The midday temperature on the summit of The Cairnwell was 7.3° C, the windchill at 900 metres was 3° C.

The snow pack continues to thaw in the mild conditions and is now mostly confined to higher mountains along the Northern boundary o fate Southern Cairngorms forecast area.

High pressure will remain dominant for tomorrow with the snow patches becoming firm overnight and softening during the day.
