wet and Windy.

9th March 2026

A pretty miserable morning followed by a lovely afternoon.  The snow cover is a mix of soft snow, generally shallow with isolated deeper pockets and old hard snow-ice. Despite the milder temps and rain it was still very hard and icy above 800 metres.

Snow banks around 600 metres. This was from the original snow we had back in January.

Snow bridges are still surprisingly strong but I don’t think I’d recommend it!

The footpath to the t-Saigairt Col. Ridges have little snow on them. Burn lines like this on upper right still holding plenty of old hard snow-ice.

Passing the wing of a Canberra on t-Saiggairt Mor. More here about it – https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/21102

Around the summit ridge, 1047m. +2 degrees here today.
