Still Winter….

26th March 2026

Another cool and windy day. Still Wintery on the tops with snow loss below 800 metres noted.

Generally there is a thin cover of snow, but there are localised deeper deposits in any sheltered area. Here, a bit of trail breaking required.

Instabilities are currently still present in deep deposits. Gully tops and corrie rims are greatest hazard. Around 90 cm of snow here with a weak layer noted. Despite a brief thaw tonight (Thursday 26th) instabilities will persist within deep deposits at higher elevations.

A view from Carn Crom. Ben Macdui around the highest point.

Cairn Toul and Coire Bhrochain in the background.

Sron Riach (left side with Cornices) and Corrie Sputan Dearg.
