Limited new snow, more tomorrow?

12th March 2026

It had been raining hard overnight with the rivers full this morning. However, with the freezing level up around the higher summits, new snow amounts were minimal when I was out this morning. The freezing level has been dropping today reaching 700 metres by late afternoon. More snow is forecast in strong South-West to Westerly winds.

A view of Lochnagar Corrie this morning in the rain.

The summit and Foxes or False Corrie. Little bit more new snow noted around the summit. The freezing level has since dropped to around 700 metres.

A closer shot through the rain. The West ridge and higher buttresses are receiving some new wind blown snow from above in the storm force winds.
