Lochnagar.

8th March 2026

Surprisingly mild in the Corrie of Lochnagar today. Not a lot to see unfortunately but there was a bit of snow and ice observed falling in the corrie. Back to thaw conditions for the moment although the highest tops may stay firm for a bit yet.

A lot of the hills were quite cloudy today, Lochnagar was no exception.

The main corrie. Much warmer in here than 12 hours ago. A lot of snow had softened including areas of windslab.

Falling snow and ice from steep ground was observed.

Raeburns and Black Spout area. Still firm enough to slide and fall some distance on the steep slopes.

Much brighter towards the hill of Morven.
