The Promised Land.

12th February 2026

At last…… Great views today in the cold Northerly conditions. It’s become very icy anywhere exposed to the recent strong winds.

We’ve been forecasting blind for a while without being able to see much but today I received a few messages from folks out and about.

Great views today from the S-Taigairts, Beinn a Bhuird looking splendid.

Ben Avon. High terrain holding great cover.

It wasn’t just SAIS forecasters enjoying the view. Staff at Glenshee Centre checking out the area. Debris noted in Corrie Fionn on the right and The West Wall, past the ski lift. Pic David, Glenshee Ski Centre.

I passed this today on  s-Taiggairt Beag. Difficult to convey the size of an avalanche from a picture but this was around a Class 3. Big enough!

Corrie Kander, with debris onto the Loch. Some evidence of a slide on the far face as well. Photo. Al H.

From Cairn O Claise. Almost looks like its flowed out the Corrie. Photo Al H.
