More snow!

2nd February 2026

Continuing with the poor visibility theme today.

The freezing level lowered through the day as was forecast and is due to continue lowering tonight and into tommorow.

The new snow today seemed to be the heaviest during the morning and at 650 metres was quite wet with some sleet mixed in. By 900 metres there was signs of drifting on the strong South-Easterly winds.

Unfortunately, not a good day for the pictures.

(Above) Large snow bank on the way to Meall Odhar covering the piste.

(Above) Wet snow sticking to my rucksack between 600-800 metres.

(Above) Surface wet snow instabilities observed at around 800 metres on the North west face of Creag nan Gabhar.
