The road to Derry.

6th January 2026

Headed in towards Derry Lodge this morning. Unfortunately it was slow going so abandoned the plan to go up Carn Crom. As we’ve been mentioning there’s quite a bit of snow on some aspects in the main Cairngorms.

There was another amber alert for the entire area today from 11 am. True to forecast heavy snowfall stared late morning. Many of the roads were turning white again by mid afternoon.

Wednesday could be another challenging day as well.

Derry Woods and the way to Carn Crom just before the snow started.

The Bob Scott Bothy.

The Bridge at Derry.

The track to Derry Lodge had quite a few skiers on it today.

Walking anywhere at the moment is a slow, particularly in the Cairngorms.
