Snow forecast

14th January 2026

After a bright start, the day clouded over very quickly with no visibility into the cliffs of Lochnagar. Underfoot conditions have really firmed up with water-ice on some paths and tracks and firm snow from fairly low levels. There are still areas of breakable crust but generally much faster travel is now possible.

We have some snowfall arriving overnight with fresh windslab building. The winds will be increasing during the day so deposits will continue to drift after the initial snowfall has ceased.

Very poor visibility today so no opportunities for meaningful crag shots – sorry!

Firmer snow offering much faster travel

Poor visibility – no views of Lochnagar today

Solid water-ice on paths and tracks
