Post Thaw.

12th January 2026

It was still very windy today but not quite as bad as last night,  there were gusts in excess of 80 mph. There is a fair bit of snow gone but not as much as I thought.  It was around +2 at 900 metres for a while but today it dropped to 0 degrees for a while. Tomorrow should see the freezing level drop to around 600 metres. Unfortunately it was cloudy around 900 metres so the views were not up to much.

Currently there is snow on most aspects, obviously patchy hopefully all firm by Tuesday evening.

Unsurprisingly, there was quite a lot of water around. Most rivers and streams were full by mid morning. Not quite as bad as it seems, still reasonable cover left and it will all start to refreeze tomorrow.

Semi collapsed Cornice lines around 800 metres in Corrie Chird.

An avalanche in Dubh Corrie, Carn Aosda.

Still plenty deep deposits of snow left. Most of which has stabilised in the mild temps and rain.
