Another wild day.

26th January 2026

The South-Easterly system rumbles on, pretty well consistent snow above 600 metres, gale force + winds and no visibility. I was on snowshoes today as it’s quite tiring to get round the hills above 800 metres at the moment. It tends to be either rock hard ice or very deep drifts, making a route is tricky in such poor visibility.

Tomorrow’s weather, snowfall above 400 metres, storm force winds and whiteout conditions. Not sure how the roads will fare but certainly traveling in the hills will be difficult again.

Nice when something pops out of the white clag, something to focus on!

A filled in snowfence around 850 metres.

Dog confirming…..it’s deep at the top of Caenlochan Tow, 900 metres.

Love all the work of the SAIS reporters – I’m a big fan of the blogs. I do have a question that’s been living rent-free in my head, though.

Historically, I thought every photo featuring a Malinois was Rogue. Then December happened… and a photo appeared with two Malinois, and suddenly everything I thought I knew changed forever. I’ve been patiently waiting to see if there’d be a proper introduction to Doggo #2, but no name has surfaced yet.

So I have to ask: who is the second dog?!

Ah ha……I was waiting for someone to ask! Her name is Leia, she is a daughter of Rogue. As she’s over a year I’ve been taking her out on short or not to bad days. Been a bit wild for her but she seems to like it. As you probably can guess, Rogue loves snow and wild weather. Thanks for asking!
