A wild day.

27th January 2026

With wind gusts regularly exceeding 100 mph from midday and heavy snow falling, I felt it was the right decision not to venture out on the hill today.

The gates were closed this morning as the snowfall became heavier and visibility poor, there was little chance of vehicles crossing the col.

Glenshee Ski Centre had an Ice station Zebra feel about it.

Gates closed, roads became white around 550 metres.

Piste machines had to finish around midday, there was no visibility to safely operate.

David, the main piste machine operator at Glenshee, noted a number of small instability’s and cornice collapse, good indicators for general conditions on the hill.
