Turning Milder

21st December 2025

Light precipitation first thing, falling as snow on the highest summits. Generally there has been snow loss at lower elevations with patchy wet snow below 1000 metres. Firmer conditions on the higher summits due to a period of lower temperatures overnight. Despite promising to clear up, banks of clouds kept rolling in to ensure that no clear views of the summits were available.

Milder conditions are becoming established, with the freezing level rising above all summits and remaining there for the next period. Further snow loss will occur with the possibility that the small cornices that developed recently will become prone to collapse.

Patchy wet snow underfoot at 850m.

Snow mostly present above 1000m.

Cloud occasionally lifted to give a view.
