Inversion conditions continue….

26th December 2025

Another cloudy and freezing start to the day down in the glens.

There was plenty of people out on the hills today, most of which would be rewarded with amazing views and warmer temperatures above 900 metres. A temperature of +5.4 was recorded at Glas Maol summit.

Cold start in the Glens. Rime covered heather, footpaths were slippy!

Fogbow! Cloud started to clear around 900 metres.

Looking from Glas Maol to Lochnagar. Very little snow on plateau areas.

A distant view to Braeriach and Cairn Toul.

Good to meet you on Glas Maol yesterday. I put photos up on I am Bagging the Munros Facebook page. Really pleased to get good photos of ptarmigan and mountain hare. A few others were doing the same. On the way down in the mist I started to wander down the wrong track. As I contoured back round I saw you and the dogs coming down. Just then to my surprise I nearly stepped on a photographer lying in the heather. She was observing a mountain hare which of course ran off. I spoiled her day but it was a freak coincidence that I just happened to appear at that exact spot.

Colin, photographers everywhere! Good to see you, hopefully we’ll have some snow at some point soon.
